Science

Subject intent: Why do students study Science at Hans Price Academy?

Science at Hans Price Academy enables students to become global citizens who understand and shape the ever changing and evolving world around them. Science has changed our lives, will continue to change our lives and is vital to the world’s future. Our curriculum prepares students for the challenges of GCSE, A-Level and beyond.

Students are encouraged to make evidenced based judgements which help them understand ethical and moral implications of scientific discoveries. These values will protect them from misinformation and enable them to maintain a curiosity of the world around them.

Our 5-year curriculum has been constructed from Key Stage 2 upwards, encouraging students to build on fundamental skills, knowledge and understanding which is introduced, developed and deepened throughout their 5 years with us. Students study a range of topics across the three disciplines of Biology, Chemistry and Physics. Our curriculum is broad and ambitious, allowing students to deepen their understanding in specific areas of the curriculum. The Science curriculum is designed to build upon prior learning and give opportunities to apply this to more challenging concepts, making links between different topics.
