Hans Price students explore future careers

A group of Year 10 health and social care students from Hans Price Academy enjoyed an exciting and informative visit to the Glenside Campus of the University of the West of England (UWE), accompanied by PE Teacher Ella Howe and Careers and Pathways Leader Jackie Fielding.

The visit was designed to give students a valuable insight into the wide range of career opportunities available within the health and social care sector, while helping them explore potential pathways for further study and future careers.

Throughout the day, students participated in a variety of interactive workshops and hands-on activities led by university staff and students. These included sessions in optometry, paramedic science, midwifery, adult nursing and physiotherapy, giving students the opportunity to experience some of the practical skills and knowledge required in each profession.

One of the highlights of the visit was the midwifery session, where students had the chance to deliver a dummy baby using specialist training equipment. Many were also amazed to discover the actual size of a placenta, making for a memorable and eye-opening learning experience.

The day gave students a greater understanding of the many career pathways available within health and social care and inspired them to think more confidently about their future aspirations.
