Hans Price celebrates International Women’s Day
Staff and students at Hans Price Academy (HPA) came together to celebrate International Women’s Day, engaging in meaningful conversations with members of a local women’s group throughout the day.
The celebration featured an inspiring International Women’s Day-themed assembly, which encouraged reflection on the achievements and contributions of women in society. Students also had the opportunity to explore an exhibition curated by Sarah Freear and Lyn Gilbert, two local women dedicated to promoting International Women’s Day.
The exhibition they curated was previously displayed at Weston Museum, where Ms Davis attended the opening night as a guest of Sarah, a close friend.
Recognising the value of these inspiring stories, Ms Davis invited Sarah and Lyn to share the exhibition with HPA students. As a result, all 68 stories of remarkable trailblazing women, from local heroes to national and international figures, were showcased at the academy to inspire students.
The exhibition at Weston Museum was recently mentioned in the Houses of Parliament as an outstanding example of local women coming together to celebrate the achievements of women throughout history and in modern society.
Andi Davis, Deputy Safeguarding Lead at Hans Price Academy, said: “We are incredibly grateful to Sarah and Lyn for sharing their powerful exhibition with our students.
“Learning about these trailblazing women has provided valuable insights and motivation for our young people, showing them that they too can achieve greatness and break barriers.”
Schol leaders thanked Ms Davis for her fantastic efforts in organising the day and ensuring students could benefit from this enriching experience.
