Hans Price Academy unites for Mental Health Week
Staff, students, and the wider community at Hans Price Academy came together to learn, reflect, and support each other as part of the Academy’s Mental Health Week, held under the meaningful theme of ‘Community’.
The week was a powerful reminder of the importance of mental health awareness and the support available to all.
Throughout the week, a variety of events were held to engage and uplift students, staff, and families:
- Monday: A bake sale and mindfulness session kicked off the week, thoughtfully organised by the academy’s Nurture and SEMH teams.
- Tuesday: A parent coffee morning with the school’s dedicated counsellors offered a relaxed space to connect, and counsellor Alex Gaulton led a heartwarming student visit to Clarence Park Care Home to spend time with residents.
- Wednesday: A girls-only gym club promoted wellbeing and physical health.
- Thursday: Lunchtime crochet with Mrs Redmore offered a calm creative outlet, and Mrs Collis delivered a whole-school assembly introducing key support staff and highlighting the wellbeing resources available at school.
- Friday: Staff wore green in solidarity, the boys’ gym club was in full swing, and the SEND Team hosted a vibrant lunchtime photobooth to end the week on a high.
One of the highlights of the week was the Chain of Gratitude competition, where Learning Families created thoughtful links of appreciation. Congratulations to Tommy Caven, Charles Morrow, and Acer 1 for their winning entry.
Staff also participated in a Staff Supporter initiative, encouraging them to support one another with small acts of kindness throughout the week. The gestures shared were heartening and deeply appreciated by all.
Kerry Mullinder, SENCO, said “Although Mental Health Week shines a spotlight on these important issues, our commitment to mental health and wellbeing continues throughout the year.
“Whether you are a student, parent, or member of staff, please remember that you are not alone. Support is always available – just reach out.”
A heartfelt thank you goes to Alex Gaulton and Mr James for their outstanding organisation and promotion of Mental Health Week. Their dedication made a lasting impact on the Hans Price community.
