Yr7 and Yr8 Parents Evening 28th January 2021

Ref: HJO

26th January 2021

Dear Parent/Carer,

I am writing to inform you that our Year 7 and Year 8 Parent-Tutor Evening will take place online on Thursday 28th January 2021 between 4.00pm and 7.00pm.

This event will allow you to meet your child’s tutor and to discuss the academic progress being made by your son/daughter and also help you tackle any areas of concern.  Since we are unable to host this evening in school at the moment, we have introduced an easy to use online parents’ evening system. This allows you to choose your own appointment time with the tutor and host the video conference appointment on the evening, in a way that is similar to holding a FaceTime or Zoom conversation.

Appointments can be made immediately and will close on 28/01/21 at 3:30pm. For most parents, you will be able to book a single, 5-minute appointment with your child’s tutor. In some instances, parents will also be able to book an appointment with Mrs Upston, the SENCO, or a college leader.

Please visit https://hanspriceacademy.schoolcloud.co.uk/ to book your appointment. There is a video parent guide to the School Cloud system, available here

You will need to log in with the following information:

  • Your name
  • Your contact email
  • Your child’s name
  • Your child’s date of birth

All of these details will need to match the details we have for you and your child in our SIMS system, so if your login fails in the first instance please check your SIMS Parent App contact details section. Initial login difficulties are usually limited to those associated with legal names and preferred names (for example, Eleanor versus Ellie). If you do not have the SIMS parent app, please email [email protected] for instructions and an activation code.

The appointment with your child’s tutor will be largely a discussion around their most recent progress report, which will be available on the SIMS parent app from Wednesday 27th January. It would be useful to read this in advance of your appointment time so you can be prepared with any questions you might have.

Should you have any queries about the arrangements for this parent-tutor evening, please do not hesitate to contact us at the Academy.

Yours sincerely

H.Jones
