Year 8 Parents’ Evening – Thursday 8th February
Dear Parent/Carer,
I am writing to inform you that our Year 8 Parents Evening will take place in person at the Academy on Thursday 8th February 2024 between 4.15pm and 7.15pm.
This is a perfect opportunity to meet your child’s subject teachers, discuss the academic progress being made and tackle any areas of concern. Teachers will initially make a few high-priority appointments, with remaining appointments available for parents/carers to book first-come, first-served. Where teachers have multiple classes, appointment booking may be limited. However, you will receive a “Progress Report”, which will give you an overview of your child’s progress in each subject, as well as their overall attendance, homework completion and conduct.
Whilst this Parents Evening will take place in the Academy, we are continuing to use School Cloud to book and manage appointment slots. Appointments can be made from 9.00am Monday 22nd January 2024 and will close on Thursday 8th February at 3.30pm. For most parents, you will be able to book a single, 5-minute appointment with each teacher. English, Maths and Science teachers will be based upstairs, and all other subject teachers will be based in the Main Hall. Please consider this when booking appointment slots to allow yourself time to move between areas. College Leaders, the SEND team and Attendance team will be available to meet with throughout the evening.
During the evening you are invited to attend a short talk with Mr Hooper and Ms Allchurch to explain the data shown on the academic progress reports as well as the role of reading in your child’s progress. These talks will take place at 4:30pm, 5:30pm and 6:30pm. There will also be a Year 9 Options event, including information stands and talks, running throughout the evening. The options information is aimed at Year 9 students and their parents/carers, but you are welcome to explore to gain a better understanding of the process for selecting KS4 subject options next year.
