Year 6 Transition – Big Step Week – Parent Letter
Dear Parents/Carers,
Year 6 Big Step Week: 27th – 29th June 2023
I am writing to confirm the details of the forthcoming ‘Big Step’ week at Hans Price Academy.
Your child should arrive at 8.55am each day wearing their full primary school uniform. They need to bring a school bag containing a full water bottle, a pencil case with equipment, trainers and the Transition Passport they completed in their Primary school on Monday 26thJune. There will be staff and Induction Guides on hand to greet students, provide details of their groupings and escort them to the Main Hall for their first assembly. Each day we will provide a packed lunch, this will include a sandwich, traybake, piece of fruit and a carton of water.
Students will take part in a detailed programme throughout the week which will help them to make friends and familiarise themselves with the school layout. They will experience a range of different lessons, including sports activities (please ensure they bring their trainers). They will be spending time getting to know their College Leaders and understanding the culture and College Cup competitions.
Students will be escorted to reception and dismissed at 2.30pm each day. If you are allowing your child to walk to and from school for the first time, it is always a good idea to walk them through the route prior to them doing it by themselves. Please insist that they use all crossings provided as the school is situated on an extremely busy road.
On Thursday 29th June parents are invited to an information evening between 4.15pm – 6pm, there will be an opportunity to meet the Principal, leadership team, our pastoral team and other key members of staff. You will receive further information and discover more about your child’s time at Hans Price. There will be a chance to tour the building and discover what activities your child has taken part in during the Big Step Week.
I am confident that your child will enjoy their time with us at Hans Price and I am looking forward to meeting you and your child and helping them to settle into life at the academy.
Yours sincerely,
Mr Sam Drew
Assistant Principal
