Year 11 – Final Transition Letter
Dear Parent/Carer,
After May half term, we begin our programme of events available for Year 11 to participate in supporting their transition to Post-16 as well as celebrating their time at HPA. The fortnight is made up of several compulsory and optional events that students will sign up for during direct study on Tuesday next week creating a downloadable, personalised timetable for the fortnight. Some of the events require travel to sites away from HPA (Winterstoke Hundred Academy, Churchill Academy, Weston College or the Engine Shed in Bristol – please do take note of these if they concern your child and ensure appropriate transport is arranged).
During the fortnight there are numerous opportunities by external providers to support the transition to Post-16 as well as internal sessions to support particular subjects. There are also many enrichment opportunities created by teaching staff at HPA to celebrate the success and individual skills of the students in year 11.
The key on the attached programme shows which sessions are compulsory and optional for students. There is no limit to the number of optional sessions students can attend, and we strongly encourage students to take full advantage of the outstanding offer in this time. You will see that the programme includes regular drop-in sessions with Mrs Fielding, our careers advisor, students or parents can take advantage of free careers advice during this time.
For some students where Assessment Opportunities are incomplete or where more evidence is needed, individual arrangements will be made with their class teachers to support the TAG process.
As noted in my previous Year 11 update posted home in early May, students will not be required to wear school uniform during these two weeks and can wear appropriate “business casual” own clothing.
At the end of the fortnight, we conclude with our leavers assembly and shirt signing at 3pm on Friday 18th June.
If you have any questions about this programme of events, please do not hesitate to call or email [email protected]
Yours Sincerely,
Miss S Angell
