Year 10 & 11 – Tassomai letter
Dear Parent/Carer,
This year Hans Price Academy will use Tassomai for Year 10 and 11 Independent Study for English and Science.
What is Tassomai?
Tassomai organises students’ independent revision and supports them in learning everything they need to know for their exams (www.tassomai.com). It analyses their strengths and weaknesses, and tailors its revision program to each individual student so that they can fill any gaps in their knowledge. Tassomai provides immediate data feedback for teachers, helping them to see where students are struggling and intervene accordingly. Last year 93% of students who completed the full GCSE course achieved a 4 or higher, with 53% achieving a 7+ or higher.
What is the expectation for students to complete each week?
Students’ need to complete at least 4 “Daily Goals” per week. This is a feature that asks students to answer a certain number of questions correctly each day. It is individualised for each student and the outcome will always be between 20 and 60. This can take between 5 and 15 minutes depending on the needs of the learner and their responses.
How can parents help?
In our experience parent involvement is one of the most effective ways to increase a student’s Tassomai usage. Setting targets with them and giving small rewards – choosing a movie to watch together, a Costa treat, time on games or with friends, spending 1:1 time with you are all great ways to actively engage with what they’re doing. Students need to do enough quizzes to keep their “Daily Goal” at 4 or more each week which will then turn green (at expectation with at least 4 Daily Goals), or blue (exceeds expectations with 6 or more Daily Goals). This will ensure they’ll be prepared for their exams and confident in their knowledge – so there’ll be less need for last minute cramming! You can help by encouraging your child to use Tassomai every day. Tassomai can also be downloaded as a mobile app, which gives students more freedom as to when they complete their independent study from home, on a bus, on a car journey or at break or lunchtime.
