Year 10 PPE Letter and Timetable
Dear Parent/Carer,
I am writing to inform you of the upcoming Year 10 Pre-Public Examinations (PPEs) which are taking place this term. These end of year exams are used to assess what your child has learnt across their range of subjects.
Your child will be given an exam timetable which starts on Monday 19th June and will last 3 weeks. These exams are particularly important as they provide the basis for predicted grades when applying for Post-16 courses. The grades will also be used to provide vital information for teachers to inform planning and groupings heading into Year 11. There will be a clear window of opportunity at the end of the exam season for students to gain feedback in class and receive their new predicted grades.
How can you support?
- Ensure 100% Attendance from now on: This is crucial to ensure your child is fully prepared for their exams and reduces the additional stress of catching up missed work. Any missed PPEs will take place after school in a catch-up session.
- Spend some time with your child creating a revision timetable.
- Place the timetable somewhere in the house in full view so everyone can help to remind them.
- Purchase revision books via ScoPay or encourage use of different revision tools. (Contact us if you are finding it hard to purchase the resources, we may be able to help)
- Support your child by asking low stake questions about their revision or school textbooks.
- Check “SIMS” to see if they have completed their independent study.
- Have a good space to work with suitable lighting: Distractions out of sight (including mobile phones).
- Ensure they eat, drink plenty of water and sleep well: 8-9 hours is recommended and supports knowledge retention.
- Help them plan time to relax and socialise: Well-being is crucial to success!
- Notice and praise their efforts!

If you or your child have any questions or concerns about their revision, then please do not hesitate to contact their class teacher or tutor in the first instance. Alternatively, you may contact me using the email address below.
Yours Sincerely,
