Year 10 Letter and PPE Timetable
Dear Parent/Carer,
I would like to take the opportunity to introduce myself in this first Year 10 update letter. My name is Sian Angell, the raising standards leader for the 2023 leavers cohort. Over the next two years you will receive update letters from me at important milestones in the academic journey of your child. In a differing role to the College Leaders, I oversee the academic progress of your child and support their success in this area along with the wider Year 10 team, Miss Green (pupil premium lead) and Mrs Cox (Year 10 academic mentor).
Our upcoming milestone is that of Year 10 summer PPE’s. This is a 3-week timetable whereby students will sit mock papers across their suite of subjects. The timetable for this assessment series can be found attached to this letter. During the exam season, students will sit their assessments in the way intended for the Year 11 series. Students with access arrangements (reader/scribe/extra time etc.) will have full access to these and students will begin a routine of where they sit their assessments (hall/G10/the stage etc) thus preparing them well for the summer 2023 GCSE’s. The Year 10 access arrangement screening is now complete, and your child will receive communications as to what entitlements they have (if any) for the exams.
The upcoming exam season is particularly important to students, as these grades will be used as predictions when applying for Post-16 courses as well as providing vital information for teachers to inform planning and groupings as we head into Year 11. There will be a clear window of opportunity at the end of the exam season for students to gain feedback in class and receive their new predicted grades.
A dedicated workspace at home with access to an electronic device to complete their online daily goals such as Hegarty and Tassomai is really helpful in supporting your child with their PPE preparation. Creating a revision schedule is another useful tool to support revision to ensure time dedicated to both revising and rest.
If you have any questions about the upcoming PPE’s please do get in touch, either via the school number (01934 629307) or using [email protected]. I will be in touch again after PPE’s with communications around Year 11 readiness.
Yours sincerely,
Sian Angell
Year 10 Raising Standards Leader
