Year 10 – letter 21.02.2023

Dear Parents/Carers,

Year 10 students have had a great start to their GCSEs and recently conducted their Pre-Public Exams (PPEs) in full exam conditions in the Main Hall. It was a great experience for students to understand what an exam will feel like at the end of Year 11. Teachers are currently working hard making all the assessments and your child will know shortly how they are progressing in each of their subjects.

At the start of Term 4, we have our first BTEC Assessment Window where students who are taking any BTEC subjects will be writing controlled assessments on knowledge learnt in lessons from September. This assessment window will last until May.

It is important that during this time students are present in all lessons completing their controlled assessment as every lesson missed could affect their overall grade. We know from the pandemic how important it is for all students to be learning in-person from their teachers and alongside their classmates, therefore, any days missed require catch-up work which we know does not have as much impact as work completed within the lesson.

The current assessment window is worth up to 33% of students’ overall grade.

Yours sincerely,

Miss Charli Dale
