Updated Yr11 Letter

May 2022

Dear Parents/Carers

I am writing to remind you about the key dates for the final weeks of the Year 11 academic year. As already mentioned in our previous letter, we are running some important English and Maths revision days over the May half term in order to help students prepare for a very busy week of exams the following week.

 Attendance Still Matters!

Students need to be in school every day and on time to all of their lessons. For subjects where all exams are completed, we provide extra opportunities for your child to work on the exams they still have left to complete. Please continue to make sure that all medical appointments are arranged after school hours (3:50pm). Below is an outline of your child’s final 3 weeks:

  •  W/C 6th June: Students in full time as normal
  • W/C 13th June: Students in full time as normal
  • W/C 20th June: Students will follow a reduced timetable provided that they have completed their BTEC work. See table below

Monday 20th June

Students arrive to school at 8am for their Chemistry Toast it session before their exam.

Students can leave Hans Price Academy at 12:45pm. Students taking Food Prep will need to stay and prepare for their afternoon exam.

Tuesday 21st June Students in normal school time 8:35am until 12:30pm for Physics focus morning.
Wednesday 22nd June Students arrive to school at 1pm for their final Physics lesson.

We will also be offering an enrichment activity during periods 3 and 4 (11am onwards)

Thursday 23rd June Students arrive to school at 8am for their Physics Toast it session before their exam.

Students can leave at 10:45am after Learning Family Time if they have completed their sign-off forms (see “final housekeeping measures” overleaf)

Friday 24th June Leavers Assembly for students at 3pm
Monday 27th June Students taking Portuguese and Polish to take their final exam.

Below is a reminder of the other key dates, along with some final housekeeping measures your child will need to complete before leaving Hans Price Academy.

Thank you for your continued support over this year; we are really proud of the effort this group of students have put in over the course of the year and for me personally, it has been a real privilege to work with them. On behalf of the staff, I would like to take this opportunity to wish your child the very best in their remaining exams and for the next steps in their journey.

 Yours sincerely

Mrs H Jones

Interim Principal

Dates for your diary

  • Exam contingency day (Wednesday 29th June): All students need to be available on this day in case of any issues with their exams.
  • Final assembly (Friday 24th June at 3pm): This is a chance for your child to celebrate the year and take part in the traditional shirt signing! More information to follow.
  • Prom (Thursday 30th June): This is a fantastic night to celebrate the end of school with their friends – a night not to be missed!
  • Results Day (Thursday 25th August): Results will be available from 10am-12 noon.

 Final housekeeping measures

Before your child can officially leave Hans Price Academy, they will need to do the following:

  •  Return any books to their subject teacher
  • Return their locker key (A £2.50 charge will be payable if they have lost their key)
  • Return all borrowed library books
  • Pay any outstanding balance on the school canteen
  • Complete any remaining BTEC assignment work

If you have school uniform in fairly good condition which your family is not planning to reuse (e.g. a blazer, school tie or PE kit), then the school would really appreciate these as donations to help other students who may need to borrow it.

 Work experience opportunities

If your child wishes to gain work experience by volunteering to work with their favourite department from September alongside their college commitments, then please ask them to speak to Mr Esch or Mr Hooper in person or by email. We have had many past students take up this opportunity in order to boost their CV’s and maintain their link with Hans Price Academy.
