Strike Action – Wednesday 5th July and Friday 7th July – Parent Letter

27th June 2023

Dear Parents/Carers,

Previously, I wrote to inform you that members of the National Education Union had voted for industrial action which will impact Hans Price Academy. These strikes are the result of a pay dispute between union members and government.  The next strike action days are scheduled for Wednesday 5th July and Friday 7th July 2023.

This will result in disruption to the Hans Price routine on the 5th July, and some scheduled lessons will be unable to go ahead. As ever, pupil wellbeing remains our priority, and careful risk assessments have been carried out to assess which lessons and activities can safely continue.

At Hans Price Academy the following will apply:

Wednesday 5th July 2023

  • Year 10 will attendschool all day
  • The academy will be shut to Years 7-9
  • Students in Year 7 – 9 who are entitled to Free School Meals and will not be in school on 5th July will be able to collect a packed school lunch after school on Tuesday 4th July

Friday 7th July 2023

  • The academy will be shut to All Year groups – This is no change from the published calendar as that day is our CLF Staff Conference Day.

We will continue to work closely with our staff union representatives to keep up-to-date with the situation, and I will inform you of any other plans for future strike days as soon as possible.

I am sure, we all hope for a swift resolution to this dispute which will satisfy all parties. Until then, we recognise and respect the right of Hans Price Academy staff to take part in industrial action and ask that all members of our community continue to treat each other with respect. While I understand this situation may be frustrating, your continued support for our school at this time is appreciated.

I do hope this has answered your questions and will allow you to plan for any disruption. However, should you have any further questions, do please contact the school through the main reception or via your child’s College Leader.

Yours sincerely,

Tony Searle

Executive Principal
