RHSE Parent Letter
Dear Parents/Carers
We hope you and your families are staying safe and well.
We are writing to inform you that The Department for Education has announced changes to relationships and sex education (RHSE). Whilst this does not impact what we do here, as we have delivered this content as part of our curriculum for some time, it is now statutory for us to write this into CLF policy across both primary and secondary schools.
These changes came into effect from September 2020 and all schools will be required to comply with the updated requirements by September 2021 for consistency across England.
This means that we’ve reviewed our RHSE curriculum and policy so we can be sure our RHSE provision is appropriate for our students based on their:
- Age
- Physical and emotional maturity
- Religious and cultural backgrounds
- Special educational needs and/or disabilities
We would be very grateful if you could review the new policy, along with some example resources, now on our website: https://hanspriceacademy.clf.uk/policies/ & https://hanspriceacademy.clf.uk/curriculum/space-programme/
- To understand the curriculum requirements we need to meet, please do take a look at appendices 4 of the policy as it details what all pupils are expected to know by the end of secondary school and how to withdraw your child from some aspects of the curriculum before the next academic year.
- Complete the Microsoft forms to provide us with feedback about our policy and resources and notify us if you would like any further information in the form of a parent’s consultation evening. https://forms.office.com/Pages/ResponsePage.aspxid=ViObpySMIkm0IMbibQtAkWVYp6zE54tLgc-XZd5S4R5UQVFKNFIxNERZVFNUQ0FYNlZPUFBZRzcwSy4u
Please contact the RSE lead Dawna-Marie Daw via email [email protected] before the end of term if you have any questions or feedback.
Thank you for your continued support.
Yours sincerely,
Mrs Dawna-Marie Daw
