Dear Parents and Carers
Amber Warning for Extreme Heat – update 17.07.22
As you know, we have been monitoring the weather forecasts over the weekend and have the following updates to the letter shared on Friday morning:
· On Monday 18.07.22 and Tuesday 19.07.22, students may choose to wear either their full PE kit or their usual white shirt and black trousers/skirt/shorts. If choosing PE kit, please ensure that your child is wearing their HPA sports top, navy shorts or HPA leggings, HPA sports socks and their trainers. If they choose their usual white shirt and black trousers/shorts/skirt, please remember that socks should be black, and uniform should be worn with school shoes. There is no need for students to wear their tie or bring their blazer on these days. We will revert to usual school uniform on Wednesday when temperatures are due to fall considerably.
· We are very much looking forward to holding our Summer Show on Tuesday evening. However, we must keep this event under review and will have to postpone it if we cannot keep a safe environment in our school hall. This decision will be made by 3:00pm on Monday. We will monitor the temperature and ventilation throughout the day and seek further guidance from the CLF Health and Safety team, before making this final decision.
· At the moment, we have no plans to close the academy early on either day. If this were to change, due to a raising of the alert level to red and/or instruction from Public Health England, we will let parents know as soon as possible. However, we understand that it is likely that the school environment is as safe, if not safer, than in homes or out in the community.
· Lessons will continue as normal, right up to Thursday. Even though there will be changes to lesson planning for PE and other subjects involving physical exertion. Please ensure that your child comes to school properly equipped and Ready To Learn. It is not the school holidays just yet!
Thank you for supporting us in encouraging your child to be organised with regards to their water bottle, hat, and sun cream. We are all – whatever our workplace or circumstances – going to need to adjust our daily routines over the coming days to conserve our energy and keep ourselves comfortable. We know that the Hans Price community will rise to this challenge, as always, and maintain their good humour and co-operation.
Yours faithfully,
Hannah Jones
Interim Principal
