Year 9 – Guided Choices Letter 2021
Dear Parent/Carer,
As you are aware, Hans Price Academy moved to a three-year Key Stage 3 to ensure our students experience a diverse and comprehensive curriculum for as long as possible. As Year 9 students move towards Year 10, they will be selecting the subjects they wish to study for their GCSE exams.
Along with English Language, English Literature, Maths, Combined Science, Core PE and SPACE, students can make some choices about the additional subjects they would like to do.
Since February students have started thinking about their next steps. They have had assemblies, completed student voice surveys, attended an online Raising Aspirations event and been given access to subject videos shared in their Google Classroom.
You may be wondering how to support your child as they choose their GCSE options
- Explore the subject videos and resources in their Google Classroom with them
- Read and talk through the Guided Choices Booklet (It can be found under News & Events in the Letters Home section of the website. You should also have received a text with the link.
- Talk through goals, strengths and motivations behind their decisions.
They will be recording their selections in a one to one meeting with staff in school who will be able to guide them in any areas they feel uncertain. We aim to encourage choices in which they can excel and achieve their true potential.
